We sail autonomously.
Captain AI develops the world’s first safe fully autonomous shipping solution. We combine high-fidelity simulation with cutting-edge sensors and state-of-the-art deep learning techniques.

High fidelity simulator
We use Nautis, a high-fidelity simulator from Vstep, to test and validate our code before we test it in the real world. This makes quick iterations possible while saving on emissions, fuel costs and other resources.
Neural networks
We are building a pipeline for fully automatic data collection and labeling. We do this in order to create dependable predictions of the behavior of vessels and other factors. We use the latest AI models for object detection, image classification and instance segmentation to create comprehensive situational awareness

Cloud
For data visualization of 3D scenes, plots and sensor data dat we have built Atlantis, our scalable cloud infrastructure solution. For our route planner we generate optimal and real time paths by processing terabytes of data in the cloud.
Sensor suite
We use a variety of inputs for our sensor fusion algorithm, in order to create a reliable view of every situation. We make use of radar, cameras, GPS, Octance, sonar and AIS already installed on most vessels.

Test vessels
We have access to three vessels in the port of Rotterdam: The RT Borkum, a tugboat from Kotug International, Watertaxi 14 from Watertaxi Rotterdam and the RPA3 a patrol vessel from the Port of Rotterdam Authority. We test our software on a regular basis in the busiest port in Europe.
Safety & security
Autonomous shipping can only be realised if optimal safety, redundancy and security are prime focus points. We work closely together with the Port of Rotterdam Authority and Rijkswaterstaat and work with the highest security and safety standards.
